Find out how teeth whitening can turn your smile around.

It’s amazing how the years of coffee drinking can dull and darken your smile. Perhaps your once stunning smile has fallen flat. Don’t worry;teeth whitening this is a job for our Milford, CT, cosmetic dentist, Dr. Bruce Schechter. While whitening toothpastes and at-home kits can provide a small benefit for your smile, if you are looking to really get visible results then it’s time you turned to professional in-office teeth whitening.

Q. Do you have dull, yellowing teeth?

Q. Do you want to get a visible brighter smile quickly?

Q. Do you have a special event or occasion coming up?

Q. Do you want to feel more confident in your smile?

If you said “yes” to any or all of these questions then it might be time to turn to professional teeth whitening in Milford, CT, to get you the results you want. Imagine leaving our office in about one hour and having a visibly whiter smile? It’s not impossible with our powerful whitening system. The whitening gel contains a high-quality bleaching agent that is able to penetrate into the deeper layers of enamel to break up stubborn stain molecules.

If you have stains caused by years of coffee drinking, smoking or just the foods you’ve eaten over the years then professional teeth whitening can greatly improve the look and color of your smile. Plus, our whitening system can even get your smile several shades whiter in often just one session.

First thing’s first, we need to make sure that your smile is right for teeth whitening. In most cases, if you have a healthy cavity-free smile then you will be a great candidate for this cosmetic treatment. We will examine your smile to make sure that everything looks great before we get started.

From there, we need to protect your gums and lips so that the whitening gel doesn’t come in contact with them. We will use a simple device that will serve to keep your lips away from your teeth so that we can easily paint the gel over the front of your teeth and leave it on for up to 15 minutes.

During your whitening treatment, we will remove and reapply the whitening gel multiple times to make sure that we thoroughly remove all stains and get you the results you want.

Do you have questions about getting teeth whitening in Milford, CT? Do you want to find out if this is the right treatment for you? If so, then it’s time you called our office today to schedule a consultation. Let’s get you a radiant smile again.

Your family’s smiles are important to them, and taking care of your family is important to you. It can be a complicated task scheduling and coordinating your family’s health care needs, but there is a way to make part of health care simpler for you and your family. You should have a family dentist. It’s important to have one dentist who can take care of the needs of everyone in your family.

Having a family dentist can save you money; with regular appointments, your family dentist will treat dental issues while they are small and less expensive, preventing them from developing into big, expensive dental problems.

Having a family dentist can save you stress; you won’t have to go to several different dental providers for different members of your family. Your family dentist can treat everyone in your family.

One of the most important benefits of having a family dentist is great access to dental care. This is especially important if you or a family member has a dental emergency or needs after-hours-care. You will receive prompt attention by a dentist you know and trust.

Your lower left molar hurts when you chew on it. Also, you detect a little swelling on your jaw and gums. Is your tooth in trouble? Dr. Bruce root canalSchechter, a family dentist in Milford, CT, sees patients with similar symptoms all the time, and he evaluates them for root canal therapy. This predictable tried and true restorative treatment is comfortable and relieves a long list of symptoms. You can save your painful molar if you qualify for a root canal.

What happens during root canal therapy

Dr. Schechter performs root canal therapy on premolars and molars that have:

  • Extensive decay
  • Deep fracture from accident or simple wear and tear
  • Enamel discoloration
  • Multiple restorations
  • Drainage
  • Pain upon chewing
  • Sensitivity to heat and cold

Patients who need root canal treatment also may present with jaw swelling, a pimple on reddened gums, persistent bad breath, and a low-grade fever.

To determine if you are a candidate for this tooth-saving treatment, your family dentist in Milford will look at your tooth and its surrounding gum tissue. He'll take digital X-rays to view its root structure and underlying jaw bone. If he feels the tooth is basically viable, he'll perform a root canal procedure in just two visits using locally-injected anesthetic.

To begin, Dr. Schecter drills a hole in the tooth to access the interior chambers, or canals. These chambers contain supportive tissue, blood supply and nerves. Fortunately, the tooth can function well and last for decades without this pulp.

To extract the pulp, your Milford family dentist employs several tiny metal files. These files also smooth the canal walls. To disinfect the tooth, the dentist instills antimicrobial medication and seals each chamber with a natural substance called gutta-percha. To finish this initial procedure, Dr. Schechter places a temporary dental filling or crown, protecting the tooth as it heals over the next week to ten days.

When you return to the office. the dentist will remove the temporary restoration and bond a realistic porcelain crown in its place. He'll ensure the fit and bite are perfect.

The advantages of root canal therapy

Unfortunately, root canal therapy has an undeserved reputation for being painful, lengthy and unsuccessful. In actuality, the opposite is true. This restoration is comfortable, relieves pain and other symptoms, takes just a couple of hours and works 95 percent of the time, according to the American Academy of Endodontists.

Best of all, you get to keep your natural tooth. You avoid expensive tooth replacements, and your other natural teeth stay strong and well-aligned. In short, there's nothing like your own, healthy teeth for best smile aesthetics, oral function, and durability.
